About The Velaswitt

Built in 1882

The Veleswitt was original built in 1882 and home to the Bakers family who once owned much of what we now know as downtown Adrian, MI. Today Mr. Bakers oil on canvas portrait of himself and his child hangs in The Veleswittz’s great room.

The estate is broken down into two units where you can stay. Both “The Retreat” and “The Velaswittz” offer comfort and beauty with each room. Each hotel unit is equipped with its own full service kitchen as well as everything you may need to prepare a meal.

The Retreat is a one bedroom one bath unit with a cozy feel. The Velaswittz offers a much larger living area that includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, office spaces, formal dinning, eat in island kitchen, den and loft.

The entire property has recently undergone an extensive renovation.  Tyler Witt designed the new layout and was the lead interior designer. While keeping with the original historical feel the estate hotel is decorated with elegance and class at every turn.
